Christians, do you consider couples married in other religious traditions equal to a Christian marriage?
For example, do you think married Hindus are married in a way that equals a christian marriage? (in terms of the integrity of the marriage).
Or, Buddhists? Would a marriage gained in a Buddhist ceremony be considered equal to a Christian marriage?
Or, do you feel that their marriages are somehow less significant, inferior in some way, without Christian belief or ceremony?
I don’t understand why many people have such misunderstandings of Christians. Perhaps you should consider that many people may claim to be Christians but may not act like them (e.g. those who were born in these families and just follow their families blindly to church, not really believing in anything).
Of course they are equal. The vows are the same, it’s the same in the law and basically… there isn’t any difference. So yes, b/c what matters most in marriage is love, care, acceptance and it’s a beautiful thing that leads to the start of a new family. That’s what marriage is. It has nothing at all to do with religion. Some Hindus/ Buddhists etc etc may have even better marriages than Christian ones if they have what is mentioned above.
So, no. I think their marriages are not inferior in any way to Christian marriages.

Does Marriage have a Christian background? If so, why would gays want to get married anyway?
I have seen/heard so many christians type/say that Homosexuals are going to hell and they are terrible people, and then they say God loves us all. (dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb) This is obviously quite contradicting so if there is a christian background to marriage then why would Homosexuals want to even get married and become a part of something that does not accept them?
The concept of marriage is far older than any Christian church.
