Are clinical psychologist good at solving marriage problems?
Again, I have to say that counsellors and/or psychologists only enable us to help ourselves. They can give us a different perception, suggest other techniques to use, and support us in whatever choices we make for ourselves. They not now or will ever to be able to save a marriage that does not want to be saved. We will only get out of any session what we choose to put into it.
I have no idea – but Byron Katie is very good!

That’s one of the reasons there are clinical psychologists. Often, psychologists that will be of the most help have a title like "Family/Marriage Counselor" or something. They are clinical psychologists, but their focus is on marriages and/or families.

I am going to give you a series of websites. I can already see the thumbs down on that. In my opinion, I think the last link is your best bet. But in reality, it’s about the therapist and how kind, unbiased and comfortable they make you feel. It should never be about blame. I see a therapist and she is not clinical, but does do couples counselling. I am on meds, but the beauty of my therapist is that we do not talk about the meds aspect. We talk about the issues that underlay my depression and my relationship issues.
I went only once to a clinical psychologist with my partner. In my opinion, it just didn’t work. But again, it depends on many things, AND we both didn’t feel comfortable with her.
Anyhow I hope I’ve given you some good sites and I wish you all the best! x

Sorry, I just realized that I meant the Mayoclinic is the best site. Not the last. But they are all interesting.
